CPS at MISAC 2025: Still Part of the Fabric of California IT Innovation

At CPS, the MISAC Annual Conference is not just another trade show. It feels like a reunion. After so many consecutive years of attending, we truly consider ourselves part of the fabric of the event and part of the professional community that makes MISAC meaningful.
With approximately 400 attendees, which is typical for the conference, MISAC once again brought together California’s leading municipal IT professionals. Because most CPS projects are IT-driven and our buyers are often IT decision-makers, MISAC remains a critical touchpoint in our yearly marketing and relationship-building strategy.
Bigger Exhibit Hall, Less Traffic
One change stood out this year. The exhibit hall was noticeably larger and featured more vendors than in previous years. However, MISAC did not offer much structured support to encourage traffic to exhibitor booths. After spending most of the conference deeply engaged in sessions about AI, many attendees arrived feeling fatigued from buzzword-heavy messaging and were not interested in hearing more about artificial intelligence.
Jamie Dunn, VP of Sales at CPS, shared his perspective."By the time attendees made it to the exhibit hall, they were not looking for another speech about AI," said Dunn. "They wanted real conversations about system scalability, metadata accuracy and how to keep their ECM investments evolving. That is where CPS naturally fits."
ECM Maturity Splits the Market
Conversations at MISAC reinforced a growing divide in ECM maturity. Many midsized and larger agencies have already reached mature stages of ECM adoption and are now focused on enhancing governance, automation and trusted systems. On the other hand, smaller agencies often continue to get by using SharePoint, largely due to the perception that it is a cost-effective alternative to true ECM platforms. In reality, SharePoint often becomes more expensive when scaled and does not support metadata-driven governance or lifecycle management the way public sector environments require.
Conversations that Mattered: Cloud’s New Features
Laserfiche Cloud's new features were a recurring topic at our booth. Agencies that are ready to modernize beyond their on-prem environments showed strong interest in exploring elastic infrastructure, automation advancements and improved platform governance.
To support those conversations, we directed interested agencies to our upcoming webinar.

A New Tradition: Wine for Every Client

This year marked the first time CPS offered a hand-selected bottle of wine to every client who stopped by the booth. CPS CFO Claude Schott personally curated the wine, which became one of the event's highlights for many returning agencies.
"Bringing a premium bottle of wine to each of our clients felt like the right way to show our appreciation for long-term trust," said Claude Schott. "MISAC is a place where relationships are sustained over time, and this was a gesture of shared loyalty."
And yes, the cookies were a hit. They always are.
Not About Quantity, But Quality
While this year did not produce a large volume of net-new leads, MISAC remains invaluable for relationship development. Several long-time Laserfiche power users who had transitioned to new agencies stopped by to reconnect.
This often leads to new engagements, as trusted experience follows the people who use Laserfiche to drive change.
Why CPS Will Always Be at MISAC
MISAC continues to be one of the most meaningful events for CPS because it brings together IT leaders who understand the importance of metadata structures, ECM maturity roadmaps, and the development of systems that can be trusted over time.
For CPS, this community is not just an audience; it is a community. It is a professional ecosystem we are proud to help advance.
We look forward to next year. The wine table will be waiting.
