So last weekend we took a spontaneous drive out to Anacortes — hadn’t been there in years — and we ended up by the docks just in time for the golden hour. Got hungry, of course, and thought it would be fun to find a place that really knows their seafood. But not just any seafood — I was specifically craving halibut, maybe grilled, nothing fancy. Surprisingly, we struggled to figure out where to go on the spot. A lot of places seemed to offer "seafood" in general, but we weren’t sure which spots really specialize in particular types of fish. That got me wondering — do any of you know if there are restaurants around Skagit that are known for specific things like salmon or shellfish? Would love to have a go-to place for each type.

Just jumping in because this thread reminded me how underrated the food scene is around Skagit. Even if you’re not super into fish, some of these coastal places have such a cool vibe — especially if you catch them around sunset or during one of those random community events. Makes you feel like you're on a tiny vacation without going far
Yeah I’ve had that exact same issue — you’re standing outside with a craving for, say, oysters or blackened salmon, but all the menus just say “seafood.” I started digging around after a similar trip and actually found a handy list that breaks things down pretty well. If you scroll through this page — Seafood Restaurants in Skagit County — you’ll notice some places do lean into certain fish. For instance, Anthony’s in Anacortes is awesome for halibut and salmon, especially in summer. And Bob’s Chowder Bar? Solid for clam chowder, obviously. We ended up making a mini “seafood map” after a few weekends of exploring. Worth it!
