This spring, CPS was proud to have two of our own, Claude Schott, our CFO, and Jamie Dunn, our VP of Sales, represent us at the 2025 CMCA Annual Conference. Their time in the exhibit hall gave them a front-row seat to what’s shaping up to be a meaningful evolution for California’s Municipal Clerks.
You may have noticed the name change—what was once CCAC now CMCA. It’s a slight shift in letters but a big move in reach. The change reflects the growing presence of clerks from California’s 3,400 special districts, many of whom serve as board clerks. By embracing this broader audience, CMCA appears to have attracted more exhibitors than in years past. That’s good news for all of us—it means more conversations, opportunities to learn, and ways to share best practices across city and memorable district lines.
While traffic in the exhibit hall wasn’t as lively as we’d hoped, our team still made the most of it. Claude and Jamie engaged with clerks and asked questions about digital transformation, especially regarding records retention and workflow.
One question resonated: Is it time to tie your agency’s retention schedules directly into your repository? As more organizations adopt platforms like Laserfiche Cloud, we’re seeing a shift away from treating retention as a separate process. Instead, it’s becoming a natural extension of content management. With automatic cutoff and disposition rules built in, clerks can spend less time tracking retention manually and more time ensuring their records are well-managed and compliant.

The second conversation starter was about workflow. Is your agency ready to automate key processes? Whether it’s public records requests or onboarding new board members, Laserfiche Workflow can help agencies of all sizes become more efficient. What used to take hours or days can now happen with a few clicks—and it’s all auditable, reportable, and secure.
We met several clerks ready to explore what’s next, even if they don’t quite have all the pieces in place yet. That’s where CPS shines. We’ve worked with hundreds of local agencies to build innovative, scalable solutions that meet you where you are—and take you further.
Claude and Jamie left the event energized and optimistic. As CMCA continues to broaden its reach, we look forward to supporting more clerks from more kinds of agencies—whether they manage city councils, water boards, transit authorities, or anything in between.
To everyone who stopped by our table: thank you for the great conversations.
We’ll see you at the next one! And if you didn’t make it to the event but want to talk about retention, workflow, or what’s possible with Laserfiche, you know where to find us.
