When CPS Vice President of Sales Jamie Dunn attended this year’s California Special Districts Association (CSDA) Secretary and Clerk Conference, he found a strong sense of curiosity and collaboration among the roughly 200 attendees. The event offered a great mix of networking, education, and discovery for special district professionals exploring how modern enterprise content management (ECM) tools, such as Laserfiche, can transform their operations.

The Pulse of Special Districts

Special districts are in a different place than municipalities when it comes to ECM readiness and maturity. Jamie estimates that about 60 percent of attendees were not yet familiar with ECM or Laserfiche, while the remaining 40 percent were already engaged or actively using it.

“If they already know about Laserfiche, the conversation usually turns to records management,” Jamie shared. “If they don’t, it’s often about what OCR is, what Laserfiche does, and how it’s different from a shared drive. The average special district is just starting to realize they need to get off shared drives and implement a real system.

That awareness is spreading fast. One CPS client even sent a partner organization over to meet Jamie, telling them, “You need Laserfiche. You should see what it can do.”

Cookies, Connections, and Conversations

The CPS conference cookies were once again a hit. Several attendees remarked that they remembered them from last year because they were so good. But even sweeter than the cookies were the conversations. Jamie reported that he left with strong new leads and valuable time spent reconnecting with existing clients.

Why CPS Stands Apart

When asked how CPS differs from other Laserfiche partners, Jamie pointed to something that truly defines the company.

“Our engineer-to-employee ratio is very high, and our partners are engineers. That means clients are working with people who deeply understand Laserfiche and know how to build it right. Some other partners have lots of salespeople, but if you want solid and trustworthy implementation and support, CPS is the choice.”

That hands-on expertise is one reason CPS earned Laserfiche’s first Customer Choice Award, reflecting the company’s long-standing commitment to excellence in both service and outcomes.

Leading with Experience

CPS supports some of California’s most forward-thinking special districts, including the Yorba Linda Water District, which uses Laserfiche Forms and Restore Vault. Yorba Linda’s story was featured in a CPS webinar, Best Practices for Laserfiche Project Communications, showcasing how careful planning and collaboration lead to successful digital transformations.

As more special districts reach readiness, CPS will be there to guide them through each phase — helping them move from shared drives to secure, automated, and fully governed enterprise systems.
